GENDER DIFFERENCES IN STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL READINESS FOR PARENTHOOD

The article considers the problem of gender differences in psychological readiness for parenthood. Readiness for parenthood is considered as a complex phenomenon consisting of the following components:cognitive- reflective, personal, emotional and regulative. The purpose of the published research is to identify reliably significant differences between boys and girls on the cognitive-reflective component of psychological readiness for parenthood .The study involved 146 university students, including 75 girls and 71 boys 22–25 years old. For the diagnosis of development of the cognitive-reflective component not only well-known methods (Themethod of «The idea of the perfect parent» by Ovcharova R.V. and Degtyareva Y.U., Karpov A.V. method «Measurement of reflexivity as a mental property» ), but also Vasilyeva E.N and Orlov A.V. author’s method «My future parental roles» were used. The analysis of the data revealed reliable significant differences between boys and girls on the notions of «theperfect parent «, the choice of their future parental roles and the level of reflexivity.The materials of the research can be considered using in the design and implementation of the model and program of psychological support of the development of psychological readiness for parenthoodin students’ minds in terms of a higher educational institute.
